Bitcoin Halving Countdown & Cycle Comparator

A live countdown to the next Bitcoin halving with block-by-block progress, plus a chart comparing every past halving cycle's price performance side by side — aligned by days since halving, not by calendar date.

ℹ️ This is an estimate, not a fixed date. It's calculated from blocks remaining × the recent average time per block — Bitcoin's actual block time varies with network hash rate, so the estimate becomes more accurate the closer the halving gets.

Compare every halving cycle

Bitcoin's price at each halving date was wildly different — so this chart normalizes every cycle to "1×" on its own halving day, then plots how it moved from there. Click a cycle in the legend to show or hide it.

⚠️ Four cycles is a very small sample. Each one has had a different shape and duration — this chart is for context and illustration, not a prediction that the current cycle will follow the same path.

What this tool does

Live countdown

Days, hours, minutes, and seconds to block 1,050,000, recalculated from the current block height and recent average block time.

📊

Block epoch progress

See exactly how far the current 210,000-block epoch has progressed, not just a rough calendar guess.

🔀

Cycle-aligned chart

All four halving cycles plotted from "day zero" of their own halving, so shapes are comparable despite very different price levels.

🖱️

Toggle cycles

Show or hide any cycle in the chart to focus on the comparison that matters to you.

📡

Live + bundled data

Block height from mempool.space, fetched live. Historical prices ship bundled with the page (with a live top-up when available) so the chart always loads.

How the cycle comparison works

1

Find each halving date

2012-11-28, 2016-07-09, 2020-05-11, and 2024-04-20 — the dates blocks 210,000, 420,000, 630,000, and 840,000 were mined.

2

Record the halving-day price

Bitcoin's price on each of those dates becomes that cycle's "1×" baseline.

3

Index every day after

Every following day's price is expressed as a multiple of that baseline, indexed by days elapsed since the halving — not by calendar date.

4

Overlay all four

Plotting all four series on the same "days since halving" axis makes their shapes directly comparable.

Frequently asked questions

The next halving happens at block 1,050,000, when the block subsidy drops from 3.125 BTC to 1.5625 BTC. The exact date shifts slightly with real-world block times, which is why this page recalculates the estimate from the current block height rather than showing a fixed date.
Blocks remaining until 1,050,000, multiplied by the recent average time between blocks (pulled live from mempool.space). Block time varies with network hash rate, so this estimate gets more accurate as the halving approaches.
Bitcoin's price as a multiple of its price on halving day, for each of the last four cycles, aligned by days since that cycle's halving instead of by calendar date — so cycles are comparable regardless of Bitcoin's very different price levels each time.
No. Each of the four completed cycles had a different shape, and four data points is not enough to treat as a reliable pattern. This chart is for context and illustration only, not a prediction of future price movement.
Live block height and average block time come from mempool.space, fetched fresh in your browser each time you load the page. Historical daily Bitcoin prices ship bundled with the page as a dataset, since free historical-price APIs impose access limits and CORS restrictions that make relying on a live fetch unreliable — the page also makes a best-effort attempt to top up the bundled data with anything newer when a data source is reachable.
No. This tool is for illustration and educational purposes only, using historical and estimated data. Past cycles do not guarantee future results, and nothing here should be taken as financial, investment, or trading advice.
